- The Composite Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for composite materials.
- The role involves close collaboration with design and R&D teams to ensure new composite products are manufacturable, with a focus on design for manufacturing (DFM) considerations.
- The engineer will lead lean manufacturing process improvement projects and support manufacturing production planning and coordination.
- Responsibilities include creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, process specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- The engineer will provide technical support to production personnel to ensure the correct execution of manufacturing processes.
- Part of the job includes designing shop aids and tooling to assist production and dispositions of non-conforming parts by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- The position is based in Marina, California, and offers a competitive compensation package with a base pay range of $69,700 to $112,400 per year, plus Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

- The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of related experience as a manufacturing engineer in the composites industry or 6 years in a comparable role without a B.S. in engineering.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Solidworks, NX, or CATIA, and experience with Part Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems is essential.
- A strong background in composite manufacturing processes, including hand layup lamination, automated fiber placement (AFP), autoclave operation, and assembly processes, is required.
- The ability to write clear and concise work instructions and to work with engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) is necessary.
- The successful candidate will be skilled in identifying and solving manufacturing issues on the production floor and initiating lean manufacturing process improvements.
- Experience with MES systems and composite cutting tables is desirable, as is experience with laser projection systems.
- The role calls for a collaborative individual who can work effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure the manufacturability of new products and drive continuous improvement.
- The candidate should be capable of designing shop aids and tooling to assist production and have experience in prototype manufacturing in a professional environment.
